Delhi Supreme court applies Suo Moto Cognizance for the horrific

Introduction

The horrific Kolkata rape case of the young doctor in Kolkata has outbreak nationwide outrage and protests. The Supreme Court of India has applied Suo Moto Cognizance to this rape case, signalling a commitment to minimize these conundrums surrounding the safety of female healthcare workers in the country.

The victim, a 31-year-old postgraduate doctor at RG Kar Medical College Hospital, was brutally attacked and raped while she was on her duty. The horrific incident of this crime has provoked the nation, leading to widespread protests and calls for justice and stern actions.

The Supreme Court has appointed a national task force to delve further into the incident and implement safety measures to ensure the safety of female workers across India. The task force will consist of doctors from various parts of the country and will focus on maintaining a national protocol to stop such crimes in the future.

The court has also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit a status report on its investigation into the case.
